Crescent Bay -- 011215
On the day right after it rains, the sky is often beautifully blue and clear. Last week I visitsd Crescent Bay, on the northern coast of Laguna Beach. There had been big waves during the storms, and I wanted to see if the waves were breaking over the rocks. These shots mostly are either of the rocks right off shore or looking southward past the town of Laguna Beach.
It has been cloudy for the last two days as the next two storms have passed by to the north. There were big wave warnings today, and they will last through tomorrow -- I'll try to get some views of them tomorrow!

I like the last few pictures of the same rocks and waves splashing against them.
Thanks -- I can sit and watch waves like those for hours when I have the time!
I love anything beach and/or ocean. Like I said before, you should work for National Geographic magazine. Great amazing photos.
I'm glad you like these shots! The waves are supposed to be large again today.
The ocean is such a beautiful blue in these pictures! Thanks for sharing them. They make me wonder why we settled in IN. instead of returning to Calif.
It was a pretty day -- the blue was a bit gray today, with misty cloudy sky! Happy to share when it's this lovely!
Here in Indiana we have Lake Michigan that can have some big waves... The ocean however is an entirely different beast! The 5th photo looks like the water is swirling in a circle around the rocks- very cool!
Just a little farther north of here, the waves are reaching 20 feet with the dry storms we are having! That circle effect is interesting -- when the waves come in, they are in sets of 3 or 4 waves. The first couple are a bit less strong than the later ones, and they simply go around the rocks. It's the later ones in the set that actually crash over the rocks.
Those are formidable waves. I hope there is more moisture to come, after hearing of the deluges in points north- though hopefully there will not be either monster tides or deluges in SoCal.
These are actually pretty small -- a little farther north they are having 20 ft waves this week, along with the tail ends of the northern storms (dry here, unfortunately)! No huge tides or deluges -- we might get some rain in the middle of next week, if it doesn't split off and go north of us!
absolutely beautiful! I love the crashing waves ~
These waves were relatively small -- there were some in the area up to 20 feet high! It is a pretty little bay, just north of Laguna Beach.
Oh Janet, what beauty you have captured! The deep azure of the water and the breaking waves, look so amazing. I could sit here and just keep on gazing at these photos.
I wanted to spend more time watching those waves -- there were some up the coast a bit that were up to 20 feet! I love this little bay, too!
Thanks, Janet, to share with us the beauty of the sea meeting the rocks of the coast .
love
Michel
It's a beautiful spot along the coast of Laguna Beach!
