Clearing the Ground
It's been a long, hot summer, and over the last couple of weeks, I have been under the (hot) weather with a sinus infection. I've been following my doctor's instructions to get lots of rest and lots of water while I recover from this minor ailment. I did get out with the camera one afternoon last week, and took a few shots of the grading that has begun at what I believe may be my next home. This hillside was previously covered with citrus trees, some of which will be replanted on the grounds when construction has been competed.
A fence has been constructed in front of the construction area. On the left is a road turnaround that leads to the entrance to the site.
The nearest hill suffered a small fire earlier in the season.
The hill has stripes now -- rows of trees were situated between these stripes -- they are being uprooted by that earth-mover at the top of the hill.
And a wider view of the entire site. There will be a ground-breaking ceremony at the end of October, and completion is anticipated in late 2018.

Sinus infections are just the pits! Be well ~
Thanks -- I'm feeling much better, after 2 trips to the doctor and a week of antibiotics! Allergies are pretty wild this year, with the heat and dry winds, and it's the first sinus infection I've had for a while!
That looks like a lovely location for a home. What kind of trees are the trees in the foreground of the pictures? Hope you feel better soon.
I think it will be! The trees in the foreground of the last 2 pictures are orange trees.
Very exciting to watch construction - especially if you have a vested interest! Sinus infections can be tenacious - hope you are on the mend!
It will be fun to watch the stages! I'm feeling much better -- now that the meds seem to have identified several small infections to attack at once! At least my raspy voice has become less raspy, and my sinuses are draining well (after half the week of meds)! I'll be fine soon, and really mentioned it so people would know where I've been for a while!
Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Is the construction site near where you now live?
The construction site is about 10 miles away -- but closer to Dana Point Harbor. They are building a retirement community, from independent living to complete care, which makes sense for me, as I won't have to rely on my sister or niece or nephew, all of whom are in Santa Barbara.
I don't get here as often as I used to but I always love your photos--beautiful and calming. I notice a lot of the comments say closed after a short period of time. Guess I will have to get here sooner--this place is so quiet--its sad
Thanks -- I'm glad you enjoy my photos! I am happy to see you -- and was surprised at your comment about closed comments -- I've found a setting that changes that, and you should be able to come back at any time to comment. Do come more often, though -- there are a few people left!
