Rain
This part of the world is in a real drought situation. Up until yesterday, we were on track to have the 4th lightest rainfall for the year since 1877 when they began keeping records. Yesterday's 0.7 inch of rain knocked us off that track, but it is still very dry. At one point in the afternoon, I looked out the door at my patio just as it began to rain, and this is what I saw.
That is about all the rain we got in that little shower, and in several others during the day!Because I live farther south than Los Angeles, I'm in area that gets slapped by the tail of the storms that go through -- it's even drier here than in LA. On the happy side, though, the rain has helped with the fires -- I heard this morning that the largest fire is now 90% contained, and, though there are still some hot spots they are watching, the rain has really helped with the effort to put out the fires.

We got a good soaking up here in the desert and it was very welcome!! I even noticed the tops of Wrightwood were snow capped this morning.
@ShannSanctified - Yay -- I think we got a little more than the picture implies, but probably about 1/4 inch. Glad there's snow in the mountains! We need it so badly!
@slmret - Oh and Ethan gets out of school on the 30th of May.. Just throwing that out there. I will be taking either Monday or Friday's off for the summer again. I'll keep you posted. I'd rather take Friday but Monday is fine too I guess. We'll see.
@ShannSanctified - Maybe a beach day in June?
First when you said to look at it, I thought you were referring to the Patio Table. But its after that I realized about the rain and how much has fallen. Here too we have been very strong sun shine, and it is dry and humid now. But not complaining.
YAY for rain! I love rain! Glad you got some...especially with the fires there!

I love how things are so clean, refreshed, and smell so good after a rain!
HUGS!!!
Glad to hear the fires are under control and the rain is helping. I love the patterns made by the rain on the cement.
That is not much rain. But at least a little of it is helping some with the fires!
I'm glad you got some rain and it's helped put out flames but it's not much rain.
The photos remind me of some lyrics from My Fair Lady:
*The rain oh daddyo falls main-ly on the patio...I think she's got it. By George she's got it!*
That's how the song went right?
@angys_coco - How little has fallen!
@adamswomanback - So do I -- and I'm so glad they got a little water to help put out the fires.
@songoftheheart - Those patterns were SO welcome yesterday!
@firetyger - Far from enough -- but enough to help at the time of greatest need!
@TheSutraDude - Hahaha -- by George he's got it!!! Thanks for the rec.
I guess that rain dance you were doing worked. Good job!
That is barely enough to wet down the dust!! We are scheduled to get a little sprinkle on Thursday night. I hope it holds off a little longer so that Sparky doesn't have to mow again before Mother's day!
awww, how sad. I could have easily sent you a ton of rain from here. I think we more than made up for the draught we had last year. I hope it rains some more there, and soon.
@dingdongdingbat - Thanks!
@murisopsis - It always amazes me how little rain it takes to cool down a wildfire!
@ZSA_MD - It feels as if we've had more rain than last year, but it's been pitifully little! We're expecting a rough fire season this summer!
I hope we get some rain. The ants, which are always a nuisance, must have been really thirsty because they have been very aggressively invading my house. Your lovely ocean photos remind me of those lines: “Water, Water everywhere but not a drop to drink."
Rain is one thing I would miss out there.
Oh man and I thought we got the most rain in the world or it just feels like it at time.
