  • Extraordinary

    Satellites and pingers
    Where could it be?

    Ships and airplanes
    Where could it be?

    Hearing a signal
    Where could it be?

    Confusion now over
    What to do? 

    Simply extraordinary!

    I'm a day late on this one, but I awoke to the news that China is reporting a possible signal from a pinger locator, but simply added confusion to an already confused messy search for MH307. It struck me as extraordinary that there should be any confusion at all in a coordinated search.  Is China sending out false signals again; are they trying to hide capabilities again?  Wasn't it the Australians who had an American pinger locator?  So many questions -- where could it be?!

    • There are some that I'll miss -- just don't inspire me! But this one hit me hard as I woke up this morning and heard the news!

    • I hope so, but, as the poem expresses, I'm a little skeptical on this one! Will we ever know what happened? And does it really matter to anybody except the loved ones (except to know that it wasn't terrorism)?

    • Thanks, Zakiah -- this morning's news and the analysis that was going on when I was hearing it hit me really hard. I'm glad that came through in this poem.

  • You aren't late.. the prompts can be done in any order! I do like this one - there are so many questions and so few answers. I hope there can be closure for the families.

    • Thanks, Val -- I had thought perhaps you didn't necessarily intend that they all be done ond-a-day and in order -- and there may be a few that I will skip completely. I, too, hope there can be closure for the families -- I'm not sure we need to know all the details of the search, but this one really hit me as being extraordinary!

  • Excellent point or should say extraordinary. I feel exactly as you do on this and always close my ears to all other speculative remarks. But I also try and keep my thoughts to myself, not sure how others feel about it.

    • Good point -- I've bitten my tongue many times, both on MH370 and on many other issues. I wish the news reporters could simply consider a "need to know" basis for their editorial policies!

    • I'm not so sure -- certainly the families are interested, but I wonder about the rest of us.

  • I just hope it wasn't a suicide and those people lost their lives for nothing.

  • I wonder if whales make the same sound as the pingers do?

    • What an interesting thought! But as they describe the sound of the pingers, it doesn't seem that they do -- perhaps we're onto something now.
